Rationalizations are just tools for postponing the truth. Because we know once we are confronted with the truth, we can’t ignore it while still considering ourselves good, honest, or real people. So rationalizations are our inner-self’s defense mechanism that kicks in when we’re not ready to stop doing and thinking what we know we shouldn’t be doing and thinking. Everyone knows that.

- There's nothing like being turned onto great music. Where would I be if not for all the cool people in my life who said, "You should check this out!...." So, here's a few you may not have heard:
Jellifish - "Bellybutton" and "Spilt Milk" - Two perfect albums. Engineered by one of my favorites, Jack Joseph Puig.
Kevin Gilbert - "Thud" and "Shaming of the True" - "The Shaming of the True" changed my life. It's a wonderfully written, beautifully recorded, rock opera about an idealistic musician who, at first, sells out to false gods like fame and beauty, but then remembers who he is. (calling Dr. Freud!)
Jon Brion-"Meaningless" - Also check out his production skills on Fiona Apple's "When the Pawn" and Beck's version of the beautiful James Warren song "Everybody's Gotta Learn Sometime" - He's so good it's scary.
David Baerwald - "Triage" and "NFU" - Am I alone in this?!?
Alice Cooper - "Goes To Hell" and "From The Inside" - Not what you may think. Great songwriting, Bob Ezrin, David Foster, Tony Levin....
Queens of the Stoneage - "R" , "Songs For The Deaf", "Lullabies" - Who's cooler?
Fiona Apple - "When The Pawn..."- One of my favorite albums of the 90's. Matt Chamberlain is the coolest drummer on the planet. Jon Brion produced, Rich Costey engineered. Don't care for her other records though.
Fountains of Wayne - "Traffic and Weather" and "Welcome Interstate Managers" Wow.... I think these guys are the best pop/rock songwriters out right now. Amazingly self produced as well. I'm Very jealous of their talent.
Deerhoof - "Milk Man" & "Friend Opportunity"
Very Very original band
More to come....
